about OUR MISSION
The Well Softball, is a missional community of Men’s, Women’s, and Coed softball teams that seek to engage those inside and outside of the church in recreational fellowship. The Well believes everyone is created for a purpose (mission), and that God also placed in us a love for the game, and when we play softball, we feel His pleasure.
Child Hunger Ends Here
The Child Hunger Ends Here (Gleaners Softball Tournament) started in 2012, when a Well softball player looking to make an impact in their community convinced twelve area softball teams to join in a tournament to alleviate childhood hunger. The first year over 16,000 meals were raised for the over 6.000 children, as classified by the U.S. Census Bureau as “Food Insecure” in Livingston County, MI. To date, all teams of The Well have adopted The Gleaners Tournament as their flagship tournament, and has recorded over 84,000 meals raised! This year, The Child Hunger Ends Here, Gleaners Softball Tournament will be held August 6th, 2016 at the TAGS Sports Complex, in Hartland, MI. This year’s goal is to break over 100,000 meals raised. Interested teams/players are encouraged to fill out the “Contact Us” page and a Well Softball Team representative will be in touch with you.
We have multiple teams that play church softball for both the Brighton Church Men’s and Women’s Softball Leagues. Church softball is a fun and rewarding way to fellowship with other Christians, in a competitive sports atmosphere. Playing church softball is a wonderful way to meet and get to know fellow Christians at The Well and other area churches.
MISSIONAL REC SOFTBALL
As missional softball players, we enter competitive and recreational leagues (sometimes referred to as “Beer Leagues”) as an extension of God’s kingdom. Through Christ driven sportsmanship and compassion for all of God’s children, we stand as examples of what Christian softball players are. Not perfect human beings, but understanding and loving human beings. We are inviting of everyone we come into contact with, always ready and willing to share God’s plan and our testimony, especially if they are our opponents on the field. We also participate in charity tournaments benefiting people in need as well as church ministries.
The Well Church
The Well seeks to hold fast to the beliefs that have been core to the Christian faith for the past 2000 years. We believe that there are some beliefs that are essential to the faith and others that have come up for debate. We as a church seek to hold fast to the essentials while remaining in conversation regarding those under debate.
